The Tubac Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the vibrant history of Tubac, Arizona. Through curated exhibits, educational programs, and community engagement, we aim to connect the past with the present, ensuring that the stories of our founders and traditions are celebrated and remembered.


Our Mission
To support research on the history of Tubac, preserve that history, and share it with the public.
For over 50 years, The Tubac Historical Society has worked to preserve the unique history of Tubac including:

Researching the history of Tubac and the surrounding area

Presenting the "Speaking of History Lecture Series"

Helping save the Tubac 1885 Old Schoolhouse and the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum

Establishing the Elizabeth Brownell Research Center

Building an extensive collection of Oral History interviews with local residents recounting their experiences in Tubac

Creating an Online Catalogue of our collection of area maps, local artists’ biographies, local family histories, and more

Assisting researchers from all over the world with research requests
We invite you to visit our research library and visitor center, a 1914 adobe building at 6 Burruel Street in Tubac just opposite the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum. To learn more about our fascinating history, browse our online catalogue and online exhibits.
Research projects are ongoing, and we welcome research requests from the public. Send your requests to research@ths-tubac.org.
We continue to add to our decades of Oral History interviews of local residents who provide firsthand accounts of life in Tubac. If you know of a local villager who you would like to nominate for an interview, please fill out our Oral History Nomination Form and return it to the attention of the Oral History Committee.
